Air conditioner electricity bill

With the price of electricity on the rise, now is a great time to start implementing some money-saving strategies to ensure your electricity bill stays low this summer.

By applying even just a few of these tips for your air conditioner, you’ll be well on your way to reducing your electricity bills.

  1. Utilise the timer function

Even in summer, most nights cool right down meaning you won’t always need to have your air conditioner running overnight and therefore draining your wallet. Familiarising yourself with the ‘timer’ function will allow you to run your air conditioner only when you need it most, this will help keep costs down on your electricity bill.

  1. Set the temperature limit or use ‘economy’ mode

Transporting ourselves back to winter at the touch of a button might be tempting, but during summer, it’s best to set the air conditioner to around 24 degrees Celsius. As a general rule, the temperature shouldn’t be more than 8 degrees below outdoor temperature. When it is, for each degree you’re under the outside temperature, your air conditioner is using more power and consequently costing you valuable money.

  1. Ensure your home is adjusted to keep the cool air in

Glass is notorious for transmitting heat in summer. To ease pressure on your pocket, be sure to close blinds or curtains and shut your doors to keep all that cool air where you want it, and get more value out of your usage.

  1. Keep your air conditioner clean

Did you know a grimy filter can cause your air conditioner to use an additional 5-15% of energy? Like many of the appliances around your home, it’s important to keep your air conditioner clean and regularly maintained. A wipe down and change of filter is all it takes to have your air conditioner running more effectively and saving valuable money.

  1. Invest in a solar battery

Investing in a solar battery now will have an enormous impact on your electricity bills in the long run. By utilising a Reposit system to manage your solar power, you will enjoy cheap air conditioning all summer long without it breaking the bank. Our technology allows you to use your own stored energy at peak times for free, rather than buying from the grid!
